A coaching methodology as an app — to production in 17 days, without a single byte of client data being able to reach a US cloud.
A coaching method does not scale beyond the coach's own time. Digitising it, however, often fails on the data: coaching content is particularly sensitive. TMT MentalTech solves both — as a guided, AI-supported process on a stack that technically cannot send client data to a US cloud.
The problem
Standard building blocks for apps — login services, analytics, push, crash reports — almost all come from the USA. For content that falls under Art. 9 GDPR, each of them is a risk. The usual path would be: build first, retrofit data protection later. We did it the other way round.
How it works
- 01 One codebase for web and iPhone app — one team, one state, no duplicate maintenance.
- 02 The coaching process is modelled as a guided state machine; the method knowledge sits as its own knowledge store in the database, separated by application area.
- 03 Conversations are stored encrypted on the server; tenants are separated right down into the database.
- 04 Consent for particularly sensitive data (Art. 9 GDPR) via signature on the screen, logged.
- 05 Own data-minimising reach measurement instead of Google or Meta — no tracking cookies, no consent banner needed.
Sovereignty & evidence
- Operated entirely in Germany (STACKIT), including the AI models. No AWS, no GCP, no US components in the stack — an architectural decision from day one.
- Two independent security reviews (acceptance board and red team); all findings closed in the respective session.
- App Store privacy labels: no tracking across third-party apps or websites, no location, contact, photo or health data, no advertising ID.
- The methodology itself is the intellectual property of the domain partner and remains so.

We show results and approach: timeline, security reviews, architectural decisions. The partner’s methodology, the structure of the conversation flow and the internal prompts are the partner’s intellectual property and are not published here.
What we learned
The fastest route to a clean app is not to put the risky shortcuts on the menu in the first place. No US login service, no third-party analytics, no cloud model outside Europe — then there is nothing to cut out later.
Status
App and website are live and under continued development. We do not publish user or revenue figures.
